RECLAIMING WATER

The strategy is related to a water approach on the territory through the identification of some transversal axes that connect the San Lorenzo river to the surrounding area. The territorial structure highlights two potential areas where the two systems meet. These axes, linking several points of interest (environmental, socio-cultural and anthropic), are the result of different design actions that, linking together the various environments, make possible the rediscovery of theaquatic context.

Landscapes through the Line

Going through the territory the point of view from the greenway is no longer monotonous. The landscape is enhanced through the succession of perceptual sequences consistent with themselves and with the surroundings. The re-design of route 132 shows a wide range of situations that characterize this territory and emphasizes how the landscapes alternate and change spaces and points of view.

Reclaiming water

The strategy aims to relate through the transverse axes, the San Lorenzo river with the internal parts of the territory. Analyzing it have been identified two strong environmental guidelines that develop diagonally to the coast. Similarly were identified some anthropogenic guidelines longitudinal to the coast, disconnected one from each other. The strategy highlights two potential areas where the two systems meet and are characterized by a strong anthropic intensity. These axes are intended to connect several points of interest, environmental, socio-cultural and anthropics. These two transverse axes are made up of different projectual approaches that linking together the various enviroments offer those services now missing, making rediscover in various ways the approach with the aquatic context.

Landscapes through the line

The path, running through the territory and approaching different environmental and human elements, sinks in the landsca­pes. Adapting itself to its surroundings it wides and narrows, binds and straighten. In relating with its context, it links and creates pretexts for new artifi­cial landscapes, at the same time operating a transversal approach to mobility.

Rimouski's islands

Our work want to found out all the several parts that composing territory and give birth to different landscape. Our objective is to create a new way to perceive the complexity and the diversity of landscape in contrast to his monothematic seen through the freeway. Rimouski territory is composed by several islands: natural and urban system and agricultural areas. We want to mark differences by working in the border understood as a strategic point to discover the landscape complexity. Inside this strategy, variety of border areas, transitory, progressive and strongest, are inspired several boundary’s projects. The idea is work with sensory perceptions from many points on different levels.
