Transitional environments

G. E. Corona, T. Dettori
Rimouski area is characterized by the presence of the first insular system in the Saint Laurent river from the mouth.
This structure gives birth to a particular transitional environment characterized by a high level of biodiversity even in the proximity of the city. The opportunities offered by this waterfront are denied by the presence of an unordered area consisting of tall buildings that hides the river from the city. In the nearby parks old buildings have been demolished in order to restore natural conditions, removing human historical traces. Surrounding forests have been cutted so there is no real consciousness whether or not a landscape is truly pristine.
